Flight Path Aviation Programs for Youth
An innovative place based and virtual learning education initiative that connects history, innovation, and STEM
Preserving History. Educating the Future.
Education is at the core of the Official National WASP WWII Museum’s mission. Through immersive student programs, hands-on experiences, and powerful presentations, we bring the inspiring story of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) to audiences across the country.
STEM Based Aviation Programs for Youth
Place Based STEM Experiences: Students study the physics of flight, engineering design, and problem-solving through real world projects connected to the history of Avenger Field and the WASP legacy. These activities take place in classrooms, at the National WASP WWII Museum, and in community settings that link history and innovation. STEM Experiences provided out of school will connect students to age-appropriate career-connected learning opportunities leading to: Internships, Industry Certifications (FAA Drone Pilot’s License), and Registered Apprenticeships. Our programs reflect national STEM education initiatives, including hands-on aviation-focused learning experiences supported by NASA’s STEM Engagement division. Through aviation heritage preservation efforts similar to those led by national aviation history institutions, we bring the WASP legacy to life for young learners.
Mobile Learning Lab: A key aspiration of the program is the creation of a mobile learning lab to bring aviation and STEM experiences to remote schools unable to travel to the museum. The lab will serve as a classroom on wheels equipped with engineering kits, simulators, and historical displays.
Virtual Learning and Digital Access: To reach rural students across Texas and the nation, Flight Path is developing online modules, video lessons, and digital archives that translate the WASP story into standards aligned STEM and social studies learning. These tools ensure that even isolated learners can participate.
Educator Professional Development: Teachers join workshops and receive ongoing coaching in inquiry based and place based teaching. A Rural Educator Advisory Network supports lesson design, resource sharing, and collaboration.
Community and Industry Engagement: Local pilots, engineers, veterans, and historians act as mentors and guest experts, connecting students to aviation career pathways and leadership models.
Book an Education Tour: Ready to visit the WASP Museum, and to explore aviation programs for youth? Book an Education Tour. Please note, advance registration is required. Your organization must provide one active and engaged adult per 10 students.

A heartfelt thank you to the Sweetwater House Concert Association for their generous gift of $1,868. We are thrilled to host the opening concert of their 9th season on January 23, 2026, with the talented Summer Dean. All proceeds from this concert go directly to the Museum, helping us continue to honor and share the WASP story.
🚍 Phase 2: The STEAM Bus Initiative – Our next major project is launching a mobile learning lab to bring hands-on aviation experiences directly to students. This interactive bus will introduce young minds to the pioneering spirit of the WASP while sparking interest in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.
📚 Educational Programs & Resources – Your support also helps us develop curriculum materials, workshops, and exhibits that connect students of all ages to the incredible legacy of the WASP.
Why Your Support Matters
Your donation to the WASP Education Fund directly funds:
- Student Engagement: Bringing history to life through interactive exhibits, airshows, and educational programs.
- Warbird Operations: Flying our historic aircraft at airshows nationwide to showcase the WASP legacy.
- Community Outreach: Presentations for schools, civic organizations, and veteran groups.
- Essential Resources: Supporting travel, aircraft maintenance, and educational materials.
Help Keep Their Story Soaring
The cost of travel, aircraft upkeep, and educational programming is ongoing—but with your support, we can continue inspiring future aviators, historians, and leaders for generations to come across America.
